Will I be able to drive agricultural machinery?
This will depend on your role and that machinery!
Will I be able to use woodworking tools?
Hand tools can be adapted in a huge variety of ways and often you will solve tool related problems with your familiarity of using implements quicker that the Prosthetist and OT!… speak with them and solve the problems together.
Can I still do an active job?
You will become as active as you wish – it will largely dependent on building up slowly and adapting your fitness to match the new demands you place on your body to achieve the tasks you wish to complete.
I used to be a fireman. Could I ever be one again?
In theory there will be no bar to continuing in your previous role – many specif jobs require you to have levels of physical skill and competence. Speak directly to your line management and work through the issues you will face and solve them together. Returning to functional employment in the environmnet that you are familier is key to your rounded physiological recovery even if later you decide athat a change in career is necessary. Assume nothing!… and go and ask the questions, agree some goals and maintain communications with your employer, rehab team and importantly set realistic an achievable goals for yourself.
Could I be a ballerina?
Who knows!… if you want to be – get on and do it!
